Meet the Class of 2022


Congratulations, Guilford College Class of 2022! Their college years were marked with significant challenge, but they were determined to succeed — and look at them now. Below, meet several recent graduates and learn more about their experiences and how Guilford has prepared them to change the world.


Alina Santos '22

Exercise and Sport Sciences and Health Sciences double major


From leadership positions to campus awards, Alina Santos '22 has done it all at Guilford. A double major in Exercise and Sport Sciences and Health Sciences, she turned an internship at Cone Health into a job as Cardiac Mobility Specialist, which she will continue as she applies to Physician Assistant (PA) school this fall.

Erin Askew '22

Accounting major


Erin Askew '22 is an Accounting major with a passion for mental health. This fall, she will attend the Master of Accounting program at N.C. State University. At the same time, she plans to work with the National Alliance on Mental Health to become an advocate. She also hopes to partner with NCSU to create safe spaces on campus for those struggling with their mental health.

Jenni Camhi '22

English and Media Studies major


When Jenni Camhi's internship plans were derailed due to the pandemic, she took on the unexpected challenge of reconfiguring Guilford's award-winning student newspaper, the Guilfordian, for an online setting and online audience. As an English and Media Studies major with a near-perfect GPA and a passion for writing and editing, she was well-suited to for the role.

Maira Vandiver '22

Theatre Studies major


Maira Vandiver '22 made a strong impression on Theatre Studies Professor Beth Ritson-Lavender from Day One. While Maira unexpectedly landed at Guilford, it turned out to be the perfect fit. Caleb Huppert '22

Biology major


Caleb Huppert ’22, an Honors student, Biology major, and Chemistry, Japanese, Art, and Creative Writing minor, is clearly known for going above and beyond. He will continue his education this fall with a full ride at East Carolina University in its joint MD/PhD biochemistry program.

The Power of Hard Work

Breanna Barham '22, a double major in Criminal Justice and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, had her life planned out before starting at Guilford — law school. But plans change, and she decided to first participate in Guilford's accelerated Master of Criminal Justice as an undergraduate.

Quality Experience

Economics major Ben James '22 spent the spring semester studying Spanish and environmental economics in Costa Rica. He hopes to next be part of the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals in which he’d spend a year in Germany. He credits his professors for helping him shape a strong academic career.

Portal to Japan

Liz Dizon '22, a double major in Experience Design and Modern Language Studies, has always been interested in Japan, but the pandemic put her study-abroad plans on hold. Instead, she studied abroad — virtually — at Kansai Gaidai University and loved it. Her goal is to work for a large company in Japan in the UX design sector.

Genuine Faith

Raw curiosity inspired Jacob Perkins ’22 to major in Religious Studies. Later, he also added an Accounting major. He credits the Honors Program with giving him the confidence to pursue graduate school. This summer, he's the Program Director at Cherokee Scout Reservation in Yanceyville, N.C. It’s a summer camp owned and operated by the Old North State Council for Scouts BSA and Cub Scouts.


Jonathan Nunez '22

Business Administration major


Jonathan Nunez '22 chose Guilford because of its focus on ethics. The Business Administration major says his career goal is to obtain a management position that will mold him into an influential leader where he can help people and make a difference in the world. He already has his first position — Executive Team Leader at Target, one of his dream companies.

Kaya Simpson '22

English and Media Studies major


English and Media Studies major Kaya Simpson ’22 always knew she wanted to attend Guilford. Now that the Honors student has tackled that goal she's on to the next one — her teaching career. She was placed as an English and Drama teacher by the Southern Teachers Agency. And on the side she'll follow her other passion — a publishing career.

Juliana Hubbard '22

English and Media Studies major


English major Juliana Hubbard ’22 always had plans to become a lawyer. To prep herself and sharpen her skills, she’s been working as a T.A. with Parag Budhecha, the Director of Guilford’s Writing Program. Cydney Scott '21 (Fall graduate)

Biology major


Small-town girl Cydney Scott ’21, a Biology major and member of the women's volleyball team, found a home and the path to a big-time career as a pharmacist at Guilford.

A Love for Others

Taylor Young ’22, a Public Health major with an East Asian Studies minor, says her study abroad trip to India broadened her world view. She's currently applying for entry-level jobs in the foster-care system to help her gain some work experience. Overall, she says she wants to help as many kids as she can.

Man of Substance

In 2019, Accounting and Economics double major Brooks Stemple '22 interned at JP Morgan in the wholesale credit risk departments within the corporate and investment bank of the real-estate group. He impressed them enough to earn a full-time job offer in the company's Corporate and Investment bank.

My Guilford Story

Criminal Justice major Macaylee Eller '22 took part in Guilford's Elon Law Program, an accelerated pathway for undergraduate students interested in pursuing legal careers. This fall, she'll complete her law degree at Elon University on a Presidential Scholarship.

Why Guilford?

Tucker Gamble ’22, a double major in Classical Guitar Performance and Education Studies, is a performing musician, composer, and educator. This fall, he plans to pursue an M.A. in Ethnomusicology at the World Irish Academy in Limerick, Ireland.
