Everyone makes economic decisions, and most do so daily. And economic forces and government economic policies continuously affect our lives. As an Economics major or minor at Guilford, you’ll be prepared to positively affect these policies.

The Economics major combines scientific analysis with a historical and global perspective, providing a deeper understanding of the complex forces at work in the world. It also shines a light on values and perspectives, addressing concerns that lie at the heart of public policies. All of this prepares you to become a more effective, well-rounded citizen and professional. When our students enter their professions they carry with them a tradition of trust, integrity and academic excellence.

As an Economics major you'll learn skills that prepare you for running your own business, becoming an executive of a corporation, managing a nonprofit organization, working for an international or environmental organization or becoming a consultant.

The minor in Economics is a package of courses that provides a career boost for students coming from other majors. And it's an attractive asset on one’s resume, as graduate programs in law, business administration, international studies and public policy often favor candidates with strong Economics backgrounds.
