Kyle Wooden ’11 Appointed Vice President for Enrollment Management

Kyle Wooden ’11, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management at Guilford College since May 2022 and a member of the Admission team since 2012, has been appointed Vice President for Enrollment Management.

“I am very pleased to announce this promotion for Kyle, a longtime Guilfordian who is dedicated to providing students with opportunities to receive a Guilford education, having benefited from it himself,” says President Kyle Farmbry. “Inquiries, applications and new-student enrollment have increased in recent years, under his leadership, and we are positioned to continue these positive trends.”

In each of the past two years coming out of the COVID pandemic period, Kyle Wooden and the Admission team have met or exceeded goals by enrolling 400-plus first-year, transfer and readmitted traditional-aged students.

He attributes the result to a campus-wide commitment to student recruitment, including Admission faculty member-in-residence David Hildreth, faculty and staff members supporting open houses and student tour guides, along with alumni volunteers.

"Guilfordians continue to step up to the plate in terms of recruitment,” says Kyle. “Faculty, staff and especially our current students have done a wonderful job highlighting our community and its offerings to our prospective students and guests. I am so thankful to be a part of this team."

He noted that Guilford has worked to improve processes for applying and receiving an admission decision, including accepting unofficial transcripts with an application, eliminating the application fee and providing on-site decisions at open houses.

As Vice President, Kyle manages a renewed Admission team of counselors for high school and transfer prospects, including Jacob Cutshall, who has returned as Director of Recruitment, working remotely and recruiting the Southeast while also developing plans for adult student recruitment.

In addition to managing the Admission team, Kyle recruits extensively in the Triad and surrounding area and has oversight for the Financial Aid team directed by Charlene Bedillion.

A History major at Guilford, he played four years of baseball and is the only two-year All-American in the team’s NCAA Division III era. He holds career records for batting average (.436) and slugging percentage (.699) and is among six inductees to the 2023 class of the Guilford Athletics Hall of Fame .

Kyle began working as an Admission counselor at Guilford in 2012 after playing professionally with the Karlskoga Bats of the Swedish Elitserien Baseball League following graduation from the College. He was named Senior Assistant Director of Admission in 2016 and Director of Admission in 2018.

He is a native of Indianapolis, Ind., and graduated from Sun Valley High School in Union County, N.C.
