Demonstrating English Proficiency
For students who need to increase their English language proficiency, we have partnered with INTERLINK International Institutes. INTERLINK provides English classes for students to improve academic skills, cultural awareness, and learning strategies to be successful in Guilford College's courses. Students can take online classes in their home country or INTERLINK can provide an I-20 for qualified students to study in person in Greensboro. Upon graduation from INTERLINK, students do NOT need to submit additional English test scores.
Students whose home language is not English are considered to have demonstrated English language proficiency if they have done any of the following:
- IBT TOEFL 79 (TOEFL iBT® Special Home Edition score report also accepted, same score)
- IELTS 6.5 (IELTS Indicator also accepted, same band score)
- Duolingo English Test DET 105
- ELS 112 score report
- Kaplan International Higher Intermediate Level
- PTE Academic 53
- Cambridge C1 Advanced
- ISE II (B2): Distinction in all 4 Skill Levels
- GTEC 1204 (Advanced or CBT Type)
- iTEP 3.8
- INTERLINK Level 6
- Complete the Global Academy English Placement Exam with qualifying scores.
- Successfully completed a total of 20 semester hours at an accredited, mainland U.S. university or college where English is the language of instruction, including three semester hours of English in a way that qualify as transfer credit for Guilford’s ENGL 102 College Reading and Writing
- Obtained an official score of four or higher on either the International Baccalaureate Higher Level Language A examination in English, or the College Board Advanced Placement Program (AP) examination in English Language.
Attendance
International students with F-1 student visas residing in the U.S. are expected to physically attend all on campus classes. A minimum of 80% percent in person attendance for class sessions offering a remote option is required.
International students not residing in the U.S. may enroll in fully-remote graduate programs.
