Timothy Kircher publishes translation of Renaissance dialogue

Timothy Kircher, H. Curt ’56 and Patricia S. ’57 Hege Professor of History, has contributed to a new volume, Philosophy in the Renaissance (Catholic University of America Press, 2023), edited by Paul Richard Blum and James Snyder.

His excerpt is the first English translation of a fifteenth-century Italian humanist dialogue, the Theogenius (ca. 1440) by the Renaissance polymath Leon Battista Alberti, and it addresses ways of contending with injustice and misfortune, among other ethical topics.

This contribution is part of a complete translation of the Theogenius that Tim is preparing for University of Toronto Press.
