Provost Names Faculty Members-in-residence


Provost Maria Rosales has announced the appointment of faculty members-in-residence.

Marjorie Church, an Instructor in Guilford’s English and Creative Writing Department, has been named the College’s Global and Off-Campus Initiatives (GOCI) faculty-in-residence; Lavon Williams, a Professor in the Sports Studies Department, has been named faculty-in-residence in the Office of Career, Academic and Personal Exploration (CAPE); and David Hildreth, a Professor in the Education Studies Department, has been named faculty-in-residence in the Office of Admission. 

“Marjorie, Lavon and David will bring a wealth of expertise and passion to these positions,” says Maria. “We’re excited to have them working with faculty to uphold and strengthen the opportunities for Guilford and our students.” Read more about Marjorie's appointment at this link.

Lavon has been teaching at Guilford since 2004, most recently as a Professor in the Department of Sport Studies. She received her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Texas Christian University, a master’s degree in Social Psychology of Sport and Exercise from the University of Oregon, and a Ph.D. in Sport and Exercise Psychology from UNCG.

David has been teaching at Guilford since 2000, most recently as the Lincoln Financial Professor of Education Studies, where is the Department Chair. He received his bachelor’s degree in Science Teaching from the University of North Carolina, a master’s degree in Education from East Carolina and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from UNCG. 
 
The faculty-in-residence positions are part-time; Marjorie, Lavon and David will continue in their teaching roles at Guilford.
