Imagine a Better Way

Research, design, and implement interactive experiences when you study the exciting and fast-growing field of Experience Design (XD).

As an XD major, Guilford encourages internships that prepare you for design, research, and strategy work in nonprofit agencies, institutions, businesses, museums, the entertainment industry and more.

This interdisciplinary program examines how humans interact and create meaningful experiences with products, services, environments and other people. Experience design enhances interactive experiences through better design and implementation based on research, observation, and understanding, improving all aspects of an end-user’s interaction. You’ll examine elements of psychology, art, theatre, business and computer technology, and you’ll discover how they apply to target audiences in a variety of sectors.

The XD major requires 48 credits. You’ll choose from two 28-credit interdisciplinary tracks in either design or research and strategy. The minor requires five courses (20 credits).

The major and minor in Experience Design have many practical applications in the real world, and Guilford’s nurturing environment and emphasis on experiential learning lead students who pursue this area to success.
