Guilford promotes Elizabeth Freeze to Chief Philanthropy Officer


Elizabeth Freeze has played a central role in recent fundraising campaigns, helping generate new scholarships, faculty support, and program enhancements.

In her new role, Elizabeth will serve as the College’s principal fundraising officer and report directly to President Jean Bordewich. 

Guilford College has promoted Elizabeth Freeze to Chief Philanthropy Officer, where she will lead the College’s fundraising, advancement, and donor relations efforts in support of Guilford’s mission and strategic goals.

In her new role, Elizabeth will serve as the College’s principal fundraising officer, reporting directly to the President. She will strategize, manage and implement comprehensive fundraising campaigns aligned with Guilford’s Strategic Plan, while actively engaging the Board of Trustees in their giving and advocacy. Elizabeth will also oversee and empower an Advancement team of eight professionals across operations, philanthropy and alumni relations.

Elizabeth has served Guilford in a variety of advancement roles, most recently as Senior Director of Philanthropy. In her new position, she will oversee the Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs, guiding efforts to strengthen philanthropic partnerships, expand alumni engagement and secure resources that ensure the College’s continued growth and success.

“Elizabeth brings proven leadership, deep institutional knowledge, and a genuine passion for Guilford’s future,” said President Jean Bordewich. “Her ability to connect with alumni, parents and friends of the College will help us sustain the momentum needed to invest in students and strengthen Guilford’s mission.”

A longtime advocate for liberal arts education, Elizabeth has played a central role in recent fundraising campaigns, helping generate new scholarships, faculty support and program enhancements. She is known for building meaningful relationships that align the College’s needs with the generosity of its supporters.

“I am honored to serve Guilford in this new capacity,” Elizabeth said. “This community has shaped me personally and professionally, and I look forward to working with our alumni, donors and friends to ensure Guilford continues to thrive for generations to come.”

Elizabeth graduated from Davidson College with a degree in Psychology and earned a master's in Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is President of the Board of Directors for the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ North Carolina Triad Chapter.
