The College's fast-paced campaign easily surpassed its $5 million goal with more than 2,000 alumni and friends donating over the past fiscal year.
“For the Good of Guilford demonstrated the spirit and vision of the Guilford community. That enthusiasm will fuel the College’s next chapter, one that will be financially sound, more focused and have a greater impact on our campus and far beyond. We’re just beginning.”
Guilford College’s “For the Good of Guilford” fundraising campaign has exceeded its ambitious $5 million goal, signaling a strong vote of confidence in the College’s future from alumni, donors and the broader community.
Publicly launched on March 1 after a soft launch in January, the unrestricted cash campaign raised $6,026,130 by its June 30, 2025 deadline. The College also raced past another goal to double the number of alumni donors from 900 in FY24 to 1,800 in FY25. The final count for FY25 is a whopping increase to 2,021.
Acting President Jean Parvin Bordewich celebrated the milestone Wednesday morning outside Founders Hall with colleagues and friends. “This accomplishment is the culmination of months of intense effort by many volunteers, alumni, Advancement staff, friends and supporters in Greensboro, and a number of Quaker meetings in the area,” said Jean. “We are tremendously proud of showing that Guilford is vital and important to Greensboro and to friends and alumni of Guilford everywhere.”
While this campaign concludes, the College’s momentum continues. “For the Good of Guilford demonstrated the spirit and vision of the Guilford community,” Jean added. “That enthusiasm will fuel the College’s next chapter, one that will be financially sound, more focused and have a greater impact on our campus and far beyond. We’re just beginning.”
The campaign was launched to support Guilford’s strategic goal of balancing the FY25 budget by June 30 — a crucial step toward the College’s efforts to be removed from probation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). There are other requirements Guilford is striving to meet, and a final decision is expected from SACSCOC in December.
Elizabeth Freeze, Senior Director of Philanthropy, praised the outpouring of support. “Fundraising is a true team effort, and the Guilford community has worked together to reach and exceed this extraordinary goal. The commitment to Guilford’s mission is evident not only on campus but throughout our entire network of alumni and supporters.”
