Register to Discuss Guilford’s Common Read

Guilford will host two faculty-led book discussions on Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants, the College’s 2022-23 Common Read book. The discussions are open to the Guilford community and the public.

Join community members to discuss author Robin Kimmerer’s book in advance of her appearance at Guilford on March 1. The discussions will be Feb. 9 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. (dinner provided) and Feb. 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (lunch provided). Both discussions will be in the Gilmer Room in Founders Hall.

You're welcome to join even if you have not completed the book.

There will also be an expert panel discussion on the book Feb. 21 from 7 to 9 pm at the Bryan Jr. Auditorium in the Frank Family Science Center.

The book discussions are sponsored by Guilford’s Center for Principled Problem Solving and Excellence in Teaching, the Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations and the Provost’s Office.

In addition, "Braiding Sweetgrass" is the next selection for the WFDD Book Club, and a public discussion will be held Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. at Scuppernong Books in Downtown Greensboro. More information is at WFDD.org.
