The Early College at Guilford recently placed third in the high school state finals of “The Quill,” a state-wide writing competition presented by the N.C. Association for Scholastic Activities (NCASA).
The finals were held Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, in Greenville, N.C. Four students from each team wrote from four different prompts. Submissions were scored and individual and team results were presented.
The Early College was joined by Northwest Guilford, which placed eighth, and Brown Summit Middle, which placed seventh. Brown Summit’s JV team took first place in its regional competition; there is no additional competition.
“The Quill” is the first of 21 competitions that will eventually determine the best high school and middle school in the state. The NCASA Scholastic Cup and NCASA Challenge will be awarded in May to the high schools and middle schools with the top performances in the 21 competitions.
