Last year's Business Summit was focused on artificial intelligence.
Business and government leaders will speak about managing economic uncertainties at the Summit on March 27.
“We will learn a lot from our speakers about managing uncertainties influenced by geo-political, economic, financial and community-specific factors.”
In an economy shaped by rapid change and uncertainty, how are organizations learning to work with it? Leaders from business, government and higher education will help offer answers to this question at the Guilford College Business Summit Friday, March 27.
The event is in the Carnegie Room of the Hege Academic Commons on the Guilford campus. A networking reception begins at 8 am and the program runs from 8:30-10:30 am. Registration is underway online. An individual ticket is $35, and there are several levels of sponsorships.
The theme of this year’s Summit is “Managing Uncertainty in a Global Economy.” Speakers will help participants understand how organizations build resilience in today’s economy through collaboration, innovation and partnership.
“The definition of uncertainty varies by industry,” says Shaun Howard ’13, MBA ’23, World Wide Category Operations & Planning Manager at Lenovo and moderator of a panel discussion at the Summit. “We will learn a lot from our speakers about how they are managing uncertainties influenced by geo-political, economic, financial and community-specific factors.”
Shaun, who is chair of Guilford’s Business Advisory Council, which is organizing the Summit, says the College is well equipped to provide thought leadership discussions like this. “Guilford teaches students to have the courage to look at the world a little differently.”
Greensboro Mayor Marikay Abuzuaiter, who took office in December, will offer a welcoming address, followed by a panel including:
- Mary Elizabeth Wilson – Chief of Staff & General Counsel, N.C. Department of Commerce
- Brian D. Moore – Executive Vice President & President, Unifi Manufacturing
- Daren Barnes – Strategic Procurement Manager, Cone Denim LLC
- Anna Axelsson – VP, Head of Battery Industrialization & Logistics, Volvo Energy North America

Guilford President Jean Bordewich will participate, along with GTCC President Anthony Clarke.
