Dr. Jonathan Brooks has been the principal of Bessemer Elementary School since July 1, 2022. Brooks is the former principal at Eastway Elementary School in Durham and East Albemarle Elementary in Stanly County.

Brooks spent two years as an assistant principal at Jackson Middle in Greensboro and one year as an assistant principal at Hugh Cummings High School in Burlington, NC. In his work in education, Brooks has received several awards, including Teacher of the Year, Principal of the Year, Stanly County Community Leadership Award, and the Greater Greensboro Community in schools award. Brooks holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in school administration from N.C. A&T and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Gardner Webb University.
