Guilford Welcomes Sanjeev Choudhary as ACE Fellow

Sanjeev Choudhary, Ph.D., Professor and Chair of Molecular and Cellular Biology in the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Sam Houston State University (Texas), is working as an American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow at Guilford College this fall.

Established in 1965, the ACE Fellows Program is designed to strengthen institutional and leadership capacity in American higher education by identifying and preparing faculty and staff for senior positions in college and university administration.

Sanjeev, one of 46 Fellows nationally, will use his fellowship year at Guilford to develop his leadership skills while working under the supervision of President Kyle Farmbry and participating in administrative activities and decision-making.

“Having Sanjeev share his deep knowledge of higher education with us this fall will be of great benefit to Guilford College,” Kyle says. “He will learn from us and we from him, so it’s a win-win situation. I look forward to working with him, along with colleagues across campus on a series of important projects.”

Kyle has identified three areas of focus for Sanjeev: helping develop Envisioning Guilford College 2027, the institution’s forthcoming strategic plan, and helping design strategies for diversity, equity, and inclusion and for the College’s research infrastructure.

Sanjeev became acquainted with Guilford and with Kyle when he participated in the inaugural Guilford Dialogues conference on economic inclusion in June.

In addition to being a tenured professor at Sam Houston State, Sanjeev has held teaching and research positions at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston (Texas), Tufts University (Mass.), and ACPM Medical College in India.

A native of India, Sanjeev earned a doctorate in Biochemistry from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (India), a master of science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Pune (India), and a bachelor of science degree in Chemistry from Fergusson College of the University of Poona (India).

He has a strong track record of publishing scholarly work in prestigious high-impact scientific journals, and he takes pride in mentoring students, fellows, and junior faculty to help them achieve their career goals.
