Biography


Beth Ritson began her Guilford College teaching career in 2016 and is currently Visiting Assistant Professor and Co-Chair of the Theatre Studies Department. She holds an MFA in Acting and Directing from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, where she was a Hallmark Scholar. Beth has performed professionally across the US at such theatres as The National Shakespeare Company, Utah Shakespeare, Centennial Theatre, Pacific Coast Rep and, more recently, Triad Stage here in NC. Beth also served for eight years as Co-Founder/Managing Director of The Paper Lantern Theatre—a Greensboro-based Equity theatre. Beth is currently Co-Chairing the Amplify Black Voices Theatre Festival with the Greater Greensboro Theatre Consortium consisting of the city’s 7 colleges. She is an active member of Actors’ Equity Association and the Screen Actors’ Guild.

Beth’s teaching interests are foundational acting skills, advanced scene study and directing the Guilford Community in theatre productions. She is currently directing Burial at Thebes: A Version of Sophocles’ Antigone. Beth is committed to training professional theatre artists who will carry Guilford’s Core Values with them into the workplace and the wider world.
