Get Ready to Excel in Graduate School
The Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical and Pre-Health Studies program is for students who have a bachelor’s degree and wish to prepare for graduate study in such health professions as medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, physician assistant, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy or occupational therapy.
The program provides an individualized course of study that allows students to complete or retake the required science and social science courses to prepare for admission to a graduate program in the health field of their choice. Courses are selected in close consultation with faculty advisers from disciplines in a variety of areas of study, primarily the natural sciences, mathematics and social sciences. How long the program takes to complete depends on the student’s specific situation, but most students can complete their pre-requisite courses in two years or less. Some evening and online classes are available.
In addition to the pre-requisite courses needed for their desired graduate program, students take the Health Science Seminar, a one credit course designed to help students with the application process, from preparing the personal statement to interview tips and financial planning.
Tuition per credit is $500, with most classes being four credits each. Financial aid is available in the form of federal student loans. The first step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
