Timothy Kircher publishes article in Renaissance Studies

Timothy Kircher, H. Curt ’56 and Patricia S. ’57 Hege Professor of History, has published an article on the work of the Renaissance author and humanist Giovanni Boccaccio (1313-1375) in the latest issue of Heliotropia, the official publication of the American Boccaccio Association, an international organization of over 150 scholars and teachers. The article, “Boccaccio and the Appearance of Reality (Decameron 8.3/9.3),” examines the ways that Boccaccio shows the transformative power of language to both mask and reveal the truth of things. The essay draws upon Tim’s teaching in medieval and Renaissance history. Tim is also a past President of the Association (2014-17).
