Seniors Present Work at Conferences


Seven senior students from the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Computing Technology and Information Systems, Environmental and Sustainability Studies, and Psychology presented their research at the following conferences in fall 2018 - spring 2019:

  • Caleb Amstutz '19 presented his work with Christine Stracey, Assistant Professor of Biology, on “Impacts of Hurricanes on Fish Biodiversity in St. John, USVI,” at the Annual Meeting of the N.C. Academy of Science (NCAS) - March 22-23, 2019, University of North Carolina-Wilmington, Wilmington, N.C., and the National Conferences on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) - April 10-13, 2019, Kennesaw State University, Marietta, Ga.
  • Robin Bigaj '19 presented presented her work with Michele Malotky, Associate Professor of Biology, on “Maternal Health and Traditional Practices in the Montagnard Communities of Greensboro, NC,” at the Annual Meeting of the N.C. Academy of Science (NCAS) - March 22-23, 2019, University of North Carolina-Wilmington, Wilmington, N.C., the National Conferences on Undergraduate Research (NCUR)- April 10-13, 2019, Kennesaw State University, Marietta, Ga., and the 137th American Ornithological Society Annual Meeting- June 24-28, 2019, Anchorage, Alaska.
  • Samantha Brooks '19 presented her work from her study abroad with the School for International Training (SIT) in Madagascar on “Promoting Dynamic Agroforestry with Missouri Botanical Garden in the Makirovana Tsihomanaomby Forest” at the 14th State of North Carolina Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium (SNCURCS) - November 10, 2018, N.C. State University, Raleigh, N.C., and the National Conferences on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) - April 10-13, 2019, Kennesaw State University, Marietta, Ga. This work was supported by Maria Bobroff, Associate Professor of Modern Languages - French, and Holly Peterson, Assistant Professor of Geology.
