Vance Ricks Presents Paper At Regional Philosophy Conference

Associate Professor of Philosophy Vance Ricks presented a paper entitled, “Obfuscation As Self-Disruption” at the annual meeting of the North Carolina Philosophical Society on March 8, 2019. The paper examines the intentional use of mis- and disinformation to interfere with pervasive digital surveillance and data collection. It is part of a larger project focused on reframing our understanding of privacy now that the tools of digital surveillance are ubiquitous and are not just used by others against us, but are also used, sometimes eagerly, by us on ourselves.
