Guilford College has offered to provide shelter for a Syrian refugee family during the family's 90-day resettlement period.
"For those 90 days, they would be our family," Diya told the station. "The community would be all hands on deck involved in assisting the family and learning and growing from the experience."
The story also featured comments from a member of the N.C. General Assembly who has voiced his opposition to Syrian refugees coming to Guilford and North Carolina without additional screening.
The website Inside Higher Ed ran a brief, "Guilford Criticized for Helping Refugees," based on the FOX 8 report.
