Susan Ikenberry, assistant director of Institutional Research, was awarded the 2014 Distinguished Dissertation Award from the University of New Orleans.
Her dissertation, “Math, Class, & Katrina Aftermath: The Impact of Experiences Teaching Mathematics to Low-income Middle School Students on Middle-income Teachers’ Pedagogical Strategies,” was selected from all eligible dissertations from spring, summer and fall 2014. It was recognized for quality of theoretical framework, quality of the review and critique of the literature’s relationship to current study, caliber of scholarly writing, and contribution to theory and practice.
Susan defended her dissertation in October and graduated from the University of New Orleans in December with a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction with specializations in mathematics education and cultural anthropology.
In her work at Guilford, Susan provides detailed, thorough and thoughtful analysis of institutional data for users across the Guilford community, and accurate and timely reporting of institutional data to stakeholders and oversight partners.
