Students Win Undergraduate Research Prize

A team of undergraduate researchers from Guilford College and UNCG presented at the 2015 Big South Undergraduate Research Symposium (BigSURS) in April at Campbell University.

The Guilford students are biology and chemistry major Aiperi Iusupova, peace and conflict studies major LeK Siu, and justice and policy studies major Hvung Ksor.

Sharon Morrison and Sudha Shreeniwas, faculty members in UNCG's School of Health and Human Sciences, served as mentors to the undergraduate researchers. Mentoring was also provided by Andrew Young, volunteer training coordinator in the Bonner Center, with faculty support from Associate Professor of Biology and Director of Undergraduate Research Melanie Lee-Brown and Associate Professor of Biology Michele Malotky, who is chair of the Department of Biology.
