President, Justice and Policy Faculty Publish Article


Guilford College President Jane Fernandes and faculty in the Department of Justice and Policy Studies were recently published in the Journal Committed to Social Change on Race and Ethnicity for their article titled, "Taking Away the Occasion for Violence: The Quaker Peace Testimony and Law Enforcement in the Justice and Policy Studies Department at Guilford College."

The article was co-authored by Guilford College President Jane Fernandes, Sherry Giles, Barbara Lawrence, James Hinson and Wesley Morris. Sherry and Barbara are professors in the Department of Justice and Policy Studies, James teaches in the department part-time while also serving as Deputy Police Chief in the Greensboro Police Department and Wesley is a community organizer with The Beloved Community Center.

The co-authors first presented a panel on this topic at the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Washington, D.C. in May 2015.
