News and Record Covers Guilford’s Willingness to House Refugee Family

The Greensboro News & Record reported on Guilford’s willingness to house a Syrian refugee family.

The story, “Guilford College looks to help Syrian refugees,” features quotes from Associate Professor Diya Abdo and Vice President for Student Affairs Todd Clark.

Diya, chair of the Department of English and Creative Writing, is the founder of the Every Campus a Refuge campaign, which urges every college and university to take in a Syrian refugee family.

“It’s very clear that the Guilford community has lined up to say, ‘Yes, we want to help,’ ” Todd told the newspaper. “We want to do more than help. We want to be a leader.”

The topic also was the subject of a story by News 14 Carolina, “Guilford College Ready to Help Syrian Refugees.”
