Natalya Shelkova Presents Paper

Assistant Professor of Economics Natalya Shelkova presented her paper “Intrahousehold Power: The Case of Russia” at the annual meeting of the Eastern Economics Association in New York on Feb. 28.

In the paper she argues that the position of Russian women in the family has improved since 2000, aided in part by Russia’s 2007 “Maternal Capital Law,” which grants a non-cash capital benefit to mothers.
