The admission viewbook, created by the Office of Communications & Marketing, received the highest honor in an international competition sponsored by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
The 12-page viewbook received the Gold Award – Guilford’s first – in the Circle of Excellence Awards Program. Judges selected two Gold Award winners from 113 multi-page publication entries in the design category.
“An oversized yet simplified design brings the institution’s core values into tight focus for prospective students,” the judges wrote. “The bold cover and lighter-than-expected paper stock visually and physically reinforce the unique qualities of the institution.
“Photography is well balanced and beautifully rendered on the selected paper. Text is punctuated by accessible, easy-to-read number graphics and multiple entry points for the audience.”
This is the second time the publication has been honored this year. In February, the viewbook received CASE district-level Awards of Excellence for multi-page publication or folder and editorial design.
Angela Reiter, senior director of communications & marketing, managed the viewbook project. Staff members worked with Grip, a concept and design agency based in Chicago, to create the publication for prospective students. It reflects the branding adopted in 2013 and incorporated into a wide range of student recruitment materials.
The CASE competition honors outstanding work in advancement services, alumni relations, communications, fundraising and marketing at colleges, universities, independent schools and affiliated nonprofits in the U.S. and abroad.
