Guilford College will serve as the School of Record for the innovative study-abroad programs offered by the International Sustainable Development Studies Institute (ISDSI) in Thailand. The partnership follows best practices in international higher education and highlights the shared values and common goals of ISDSI and Guilford.
As School of Record, Guilford will collaborate with ISDSI to ensure that U.S. students can earn academic credit for participating in the institute’s programs in Thailand.
ISDSI programs are rooted in community-based, experiential, undergraduate research that takes an in-depth look into the diverse cultures and ecologies found throughout Thailand. Focused on issues of sustainability, ecology and culture, ISDSI semesters are academically rigorous and immersive, connecting students to local communities where they live with and learn from Thai people who are working to create a more sustainable future in their villages, mountains and islands.
Founded in 1837, Guilford is a private, liberal arts institution committed to providing tomorrow’s leaders with the innovative problem-solving skills, experiences and global perspectives that are essential for success in an increasingly intercultural and multi-cultural world. Guilford is guided by its Quaker heritage and seven Core Values: community, diversity, equality, excellence, integrity, justice and stewardship.
ISDSI and Guilford share a commitment to sustainability, social justice and leadership development. The School of Record partnership creates a solid foundation for further collaboration.
