George Guo Writes Article on Chinese Leader


An article by faculty member George Guo will appear in Dictionary of Chinese Biography published by Berkshire Publishing.

The seven-page article (pp. 495-501) is about Yang Shangkun, president of the People’s Republic of China (1988-93) and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission in the 1980s and ’90s.

George, professor of political science and East Asian studies, is the author of the books The Ideal Chinese Political Leader: A Historical and Cultural Perspective (Praeger, 2002) and China’s Security State: Philosophy, Evolution, and Politics (Cambridge University Press, 2012).
