Associate Professor of English Diya Abdo has been named to the Board of Directors of the Leonard Education Organization.
Established in August 2015, LEO secures and manages scholarships to American colleges and universities for young Palestinian men and women from the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon and Jordan. It also provides guidance and academic mentoring to enhance students’ personal development.
The daughter of Palestinian refugees, Diya is the founder of Every Campus a Refuge, a movement that calls on each college and university to provide housing and resettlement assistance to a Syrian refugee family. She is the chair of the Department of English and Creative Writing.
