Thank you to all who gave during the second Day for Guilford on March 30!
Guilford College received 748 gifts in 24 hours – 105 from students, 109 from employees, 362 from alumni, 78 from parents and 62 from friends of the College – adding up to $66,747. Trustees gave an additional $158,593 in challenge funds for a grand total of $225,340.
“Day for Guilford has once again shown us that when we come together as a community, we can achieve incredible results,” said Jaclyn Day, senior director of annual giving. “Many took the opportunity to not only make a donation but to share their experiences and honor those who have made a positive impact on their lives. Day for Guilford is a great addition to our culture of philanthropy.”
One donor commented, “Because of its special embrace for students of all kinds, I will give to Guilford whenever I can, as often as I can. I owe all that I have to this College … my support and gratitude is unconditional. If I help even just one young adult experience the unique warmth of the Guilford community, I’ll be proud to call myself a Guilford College alum.”
On March 30, 100 donors made gifts by 10 a.m., and 250 by 2 p.m. The goal of 500 donors was reached by 5:30 p.m., and 700 donors made gifts by 10:30 p.m.
Chapters of the Alumni Association held celebratory meet-ups in Boston, Charlotte, Durham, Greensboro, Philadelphia, Raleigh and Washington.
Day for Guilford has raised $465,492 from 1,610 donors in the past two years.
