David Hammond Directs in Uruguay

David Hammond’s production of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” by Tennessee Williams, in a new Spanish translation by Margarita Musto, opens Friday, Sept. 11, at Montevideos Comedia Nacional, the national theatre of Uruguay.

David, a professor of theatre studies who is on study leave from Guilford this year, is the first North American to direct at the Comedia in its history. Following the opening, he will conduct a week of acting workshops for students from Uruguay’s National Theatre School, the Escuela Multidisciplinaria de Arte Dramatico, and for professional actors from the Union of Independent Theatres.
