Barbara Lawrence Presents Workshop, Jada Drew Leads Youth Action Project at White Privilege Conference

Seven students, two staff members and two faculty members from Guilford were among more than 1,800 participants in the 16th national White Privilege Conference March 12-15 in Louisville, Ky.

Associate Professor of Justice & Policy Studies Barbara Lawrence presented the workshop Police Accountability and Citizen Oversight: A Framework for Dismantling White Supremacy and Establishing Real Justice in the 21st Century.

Along with six other social justice educators from New York and Seattle, Multicultural Education Department Director Jada Drew led the Youth Action Project (YAP) for the fourth consecutive. The YAP engaged over 250 youth in critically analyzing institutional racism and white privilege.
