"Mariam" Film Screening and Discussion

January 17, 2018

A rare portrait of the coming-of-age of a Muslim teen, "Mariam" addresses the themes of Islamophobia, the diversity of the Muslim experience, the choice of some Muslim women to wear the hijab, and the assimilation and acceptance of Muslims in the West. After the film, students from Guilford's Muslim Student Association will lead a discussion on themes from the film. This is a French language film with English subtitles. Dinner is provided.
