Professional Development Experience

Maximize the Value of Your Guilford Experience

Guilford’s Professional Development Experience (PDE) is a career preparation certificate program that helps you plan your college career, both inside and outside the classroom, around experiences that lead to post-graduate success.

You’ll work with Career Development Center staff and faculty to design a personalized course of academic, professional and community engagement that builds the kinds of skills employers seek. PDE graduates who completed our survey reported a 100 percent job/graduate school placement rate.

You can complete the requirements in a single academic year or over your entire college career. While you can join at any time, we encourage you to sign up during your first two years at Guilford.

To fulfill program requirements, you can choose from a variety of options, including major and career exploration, internships, study abroad, on-campus leadership positions, service-learning courses, undergraduate research symposiums, practice interviews, résumé/cover letter reviews and community service.

When you complete the Professional Development Experience, you'll be celebrated at a reception in the spring and also receive a gift card toward purchasing professional attire for your next steps.

To participate in the Professional Development Experience, please contact us at careers@guilford.edu or call 336.316.2187.
