A Completely Free, Open Event in Greensboro, NC - February 8-10 - Guilford College

Schedule

Here is an Overview Schedule

List of Rooms:

Information Room/Con Suite -Dana Lobby
This is the room to go to if you have any questions. It's also where you'll find registration and where you put your name down for signup events, and door prizes.

Artists Alley(S) -Dana Lobby, Choir Room
We have a lot of guest this year, and you can come talk to them and learn about their webcomics/comics/other. They really are a fun bunch of people, and this is a great chance to get to know them in person. (Plus they have shinys for sale)

Dealer's Room -Duke 103
We've got some pretty cool dealers this year. Not too many from last year were able to make it back, but we've got funny t-shirts, local authors, games, RPGs, Empire books, and the Castle.

Anime Room -Duke 213 -Elliott Diggs
It's happy; we've actually got DVDs from ADV to show. Nothing but the first two episodes in a series, but you can get the feel for some stuff you haven't seen before. Also, there will probably be some Red vs. Blue and some anime music videos shown. Check outside the door to see what's showing.

Bad Video Room -Duke 211 -Nathan Murdock
This is for those of you who complain that the Crapathon isn't long enough (though there's no porn here). It's bad, really bad. Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter anyone?

CCG/Magic Room -Duke 203 -Michael Simpkins and David Lerner
This is for anyone who enjoys playing collectable card games, though it will be primarily Magic the Gathering. We will be getting a bunch of cards and set up some decks for people to use. There will also be some unused cards if people want to make their own decks, or modify the ones we build (don't get to keep them though; we'll need them again for next year). Will try to set up a tournament schedule.

Classic Sci-Fi Shows -Dana 215 -Jerry Hrechka
An expansion of the Dr. Who room, we'll be showing old sci-fi episodes. Will still include every Dr. Who episode ever made, on demand, on a wall screen. Need we say more?

Jon Hatch Memorial Game Room -Duke 204 -Jon Hatch
In memory of the Reverend Jon Hatch, we have his collection of games and a small memorial with flowers. He will be there to play games with you. He's not dead, but the room is still dedicated to his memory.

Keep on the Borderlands -Duke 101 or Dana 104 -Various people
An expansion for the original D&D, games of Keep on the Borderlands are going to be run throughout the con. With a twist. Each game is going to have a different theme, such as being run as a videogame, and more.

RPG Rooms -201, 202, 307
The place for multiple roleplaying games. A schedule for what games will be going on when and where will be available when you sign in.

Video Game Rooms -Duke 303, 305 -Art Fulks and Steve Smith
Um... video games. Ever wanted to play a Wii on a 72" wide wall screen with high quality stereo sound? We can help you with that fantasy. Is also sponsored by the The Friendly Center GameStop.

Miniatures Room -Dana 217 -Tim Cox
Do you like tiny orcs, paladins and other things that are normally larger than two inches? Do you like to play with them and have them kill each other? If the answer is yes then this is the room for you. We are not planning tournaments because they would take up most of the day. There will be a huge Apocolypse game though.

Major Con Events:

WTHCon QmEpCaRCaP/ Yachting History Friday 6:30pm-7:30pm | Leak Room
Also known as “What the Hell Con Question Mark Exclamation Point Colin a Retrospective Comma a Panel” by John Davis and Brian Sinclair (runners of the Crapathon). A brief history of the convention with a question and answer, followed by robots and/or nuclear monkeys. Merged with a history of the Yachting Club by our very own Founder and Dictator for Life, Mae.

Screening of Night of the Living Dead, and Last Man on Earth Friday 6:30pm-10pm | Dana Auditorium
Two episodes of Creature Features will be shown, brought to you by the horror host Dr. Gangrene. It has lots of jokes and sight gags, and should be a lot of fun. Here is the main site for the show.

Eye of Argon Friday 9:30pm-10:30pm | Leak Room
By the surly beard of Mrifk! If you can imagine, publishers get a number of really crappy manuscripts in their time. It has been dubbed the "the worst science fiction story ever written." The game is to see how long you can read without laughing, which is sometimes less than one word. Yes, it's that bad.

CRAPATHON Friday 10:30pm-1pm | Dana Auditorium
Come see the worst clips of crap your con organizers can find. From anime to live-action, from saccharine to stomach-churning, we've got the crap to make you stab your eyes out, and help you appreciate why this con is called "WHAT THE HELL?!" For those who know, this time, we go back to the basics. Yes, we have permission.

DigiTribe Productions will be showing their newest production, a short film based on H.P. Lovecraft's "The Statement of Randolph Carter," right before we get the Crapathon started.

Sci-fi Writing Workshop Saturday 11am-noon | Leak Room
This will definitly feature Mae Kalwaic, though as we've got a few other authors/writers, they might be there too. We've got a lot of geeky readers out there, anyone intersted in learning more about how to write your own? Just make sure we don't have another Eye of Argon on our hands...

Silent Auction Saturday 11am-5pm | Duke
We have a lot of things for sale, like books and RPG stuff. Come bid on things! Prices are low, and everything goes to charity. PLEASE COME CHECK ON YOUR BIDS AT 5pm.

Live-Steel Sword Demo Saturday noon-1pm | Outside
The European Martial Arts of Arms are going to be doing Medieval-style sword fighting somewhere between Duke and Dana on Saturday. Mmmm..swords...

Film-making Panel Saturday 12:30pm-1:30pm | Dana Auditorium
We've got some alumni involved with geeky films, and they're gonna talk about it. Will definitly include DigiTribe Productions, and possibly others. The panel will be followed by the:

Screening of Geekin' Saturday 1:30pm-3:30 pm | Dana Auditorium
DigiTribe Productions will be showing "After", a zombie short, and "Geekin'", a feature length geek romantic comedy. They sound good, and I hope I get a chance to see some of it. You should at least. They'll also be showing a short film based on H.P. Lovecraft's "The Statement of Randolph Carter," right before the Crapathon.

Cabbit Making Saturday 1:30pm-2pm | Duke 307
Taking cosplaying to a high level, you may have seen the wonderful Cabbit walking around at last years convention. Anyone interested in how it was created, here's your chance to find out how to make one for your very own.

Tech Panel Thingy Saturday 2pm-3pm | Leak Room
Not necessarily so much a panel as a presentation-type thing. Anyway. We’ve got people talking about various tech-related things, such as web design. Mae and Jared will be talking about podcasting and stuff.

Joint Guest Panel Saturday 3:30pm-5pm | Leak Room
Also known as the Artists panel, all (or most) of our guests, both web and print published and otherwise, will be talking about..well, the stuff they do and why we like them

Iron Chef College Edition Saturday 4pm -5:30pm | Duke 201
Back again this year we have Iron Chef, College Edition. Come see and be amazed at the array of *truly wonderful food* capable of being made out of ramen, canned food and on a college budget. There will be a secret again, but..no squid this time.

Versus Saturday 6:30pm-7:30 pm | Leak Room
Everyone in the realm of geekdom has debated the relative awesomeness of things they love against other things they love. Science fiction shows and films versus each other, protagonists versus protagonists, colors versus other colors... all have been pitted against one another. So why not just lump it all into one giant debate?! All willing audience members submit an index card containing the very greatest thing (in their opinion) in all geekdom and defend it against all possible opposition. You may have to argue against yourself. Convincingly.

Geek Social Skills Saturday 7:30-8:30 pm | Duke 201
Presented by Nick Popio right before the auction, for those geekboys (and girls) who want to know more about this whole "being social thing"

Geek Auction Saturday 8:30pm-10pm | Dana Auditorium
Come and bid on delightful young gentlemen, for the honor of having them escort you to the dance following the bidding. Acquisition of one of these charming chaps entitles you only to a single dance during the gala (and whatever else they themselves offer). You will need to register and receive your bidding paddle before the event. No IOUs will be accepted (not even to run to the ATM). All proceeds are donated to charity; remember, it's for the children.

Fire Dancing Saturday 10pm-10:30pm | Outside
This year we’re getting the Flaming Faeries to perform their more adult-themed Toxic show. Includes flaming floggers and fire whip, as well as the usual poi, staff, and fans. There may even be little sparkly explosions.

The Dance Saturday 10:30pm-1am | Dana Auditorium
Come and groove to the funky stylings of our new DJ, James Lyons. We're taking over Dana Auditorium and cranking the tunes as loud as we can get away with. There will be lots of glowy things.

Otakudom Sunday 12:30pm-1:30pm | Leak Room
"This is Otakudom" - a documentary fan parody of the anime fan scene (and oh is there stuff to parody there). You can check out Scot Melzer's website concerning it at http://welcome.to/otakudom/

Videogame Panel Sunday 1pm-2pm | Duke 201
Dave Dobson, creator of Snood, Sultan, and Chowder, will be talking about the process involved in videogame design/creation/production etc.

Daikaiju Battle Sunday 1:30pm-3pm | Dana Auditorium
Perhaps a different twist to this year's battle. Intrigued? Come find out! I mean, destroying a city of cardboard boxes, what's not to love?

AMV panel Sunday 2:30pm-3pm | Leak Room
We've got some people from an AMV studio coming to show off their videos and generally discuss how to make good AMVs. Followed by:

Anime Music Videos Sunday 3pm-4pm | Leak Room
Some of the weirdest, funniest, coolest and awesomest remix/mish-mashes of popular anime and sound tracks to grace the inter-tubes. You have been warned.
