Major Con Events for 2009

FRIDAY

Eye of Argon Friday 5:45 pm-7:30 pm | 201
By the surly beard of Mrifk! If you can imagine, publishers get a number of really crappy manuscripts in their time. It has been dubbed the "the worst science fiction story ever written." The game is to see how long you can read without laughing, which is sometimes less than one word. Yes, it's that bad.

Stairway to Trouble (RPG) Friday 6 pm-8 pm | 208
Come play at a rock concert at Spawn Ranch. We'll make characters before we begin. Fun for all ages. System: Animal Town Confidential

Versus Friday 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm | 123
Everyone in the realm of geekdom has debated the relative awesomeness of things they love against other things they love. Science fiction shows and films versus each other, protagonists versus protagonists, colors versus other colors... all have been pitted against one another. So why not just lump it all into one giant debate?! All willing audience members submit an index card containing the very greatest thing (in their opinion) in all geekdom and defend it against all possible opposition. You may have to argue against yourself. Convincingly.

Venture by Night LARP Friday 8 pm - midnight | 123 & 104
An ongoing LARP run by Nick Popio. I'm not sure what the scenerio of this weeks game is going to be, or if new characters are being accepted. More info to come later.

Tom Smith Concert Friday 8 pm - 10 pm | Dana Auditorium
He crams puns, pop culture, literature, science fiction and fantasy, made-up-on-the-spot ditties, voice impersonations, rockin' tunes, and the occasional recipe into an evening of high-energy silliness like nothing you've never heard.

Fire Dancing Friday 10 pm - 11 pm | Outside Dana
The Flaming Faries are thinking of doing a steampunk show. It's always exciting to see new shows, and I'm guessing it will still include the fire whip, as well as the usual poi, staff, and fans. There may even be little sparkly explosions.

CRAPATHON Friday 11 pm - 1 am | Dana Auditorium
Come see the worst clips of crap your con organizers can find. From anime to live-action, from saccharine to stomach-churning, we've got the crap to make you stab your eyes out, and help you appreciate why this con is called "WHAT THE HELL?!" For those who know, this time, we go back to the basics. Yes, we have permission. We even have the origional tapes.
