A Completely Free, Open Event in Greensboro, NC - February 6th-8th - Guilford College

Guests of Honor

We have a rather fantastic list of guests this year. Many of them have been to previous cons, but we have a few newcomers who we look forward to meeting. Table space is limited, and has already been filled.

Tom Smith

Music In Every Style. Except Dull. I have to say that I didn't recognize the name Tom Smith at first, but I had heard some of his songs. Most notably, A Boy and His Frog. Since hearing more of his music, I am very excited to announce that he is our big guest this year.

There's every other singer out there... and then there's Tom Smith.

The only recording artist to appear on both NPR's Sound and Spirit and The Dr. Demento Show, Tom Smith combines high-energy folk rock, SF/fantasy, popular culture, progressive politics, cartoon voices, unbelievably bad puns, and the occasional recipe into a show you will never forget.

Ken Eklund: Writerguy

Ken is a writer and game designer who has worked on many different types of games, ranging from D&D and Star Trek, to his most recent and I think largest game/event: A World Without Oil.

Robert Harris and William Jones

Robert and William are actors, and both were in the film Cabin Fever and in film Bone Creek, which was recently premeired at the Carousel.

Flaming Faeries

They dance with fire, they crack a fiery whip and they are working on a steampunk show. Some are graduates of Guilford, others are just friends. They are all around awesome.

European Medieval Arts of Arms

The EMAA Knights are coming back to do live-steel demos of Medieval-style swordfighting.! It was lots of fun to watch them last year, but keep in mind: They have swords. Be nice.

Alan Welch: Reverie Realm

Alan Welch has created some fantastic fantasy files through digital manipulations. They are based off photographs, and have a great sense of detail and 3D imagery.

Brian Shearer and Marty Blevins: Gravyboy

Unwilling to allow the Devil's Panties to propagate unchecked at our wonderful con, the folks at Gravyboy are continuing their rivalry with Jennie Breeden by gracing us with their presence. Woot!

Caldwell Tanner: Quarter-life Crisis

Quarter Life Crisis is about two young adults searching for life’s meaning in the face of an assuredly depressing future. Does it reflect the real-life situation of the comic’s creators? We only wish the answer wasn’t so obvious.

Dan Johnson: Herc and Thor

He writes a real live comic! How about that? He is also a gag writed for the Dennis the Menace comic and has contributed to Alter Ego, Comic Book Marketplace, Filmfax and Scary Monsters Magazine.

Author, Davey Beauchamp

Davey is best known for his Writers for Relief Anthologies, The Amazing Pulp Adventures Radio Show Starring Mister Adventure, and the Agency 32 series. The Writers for Relief project continues to support relief efforts for Katrina and Rita hurricanes.

Jamie Robertson: Clan of the Cats

Jamie Robertson is the awesome webcomic author/artist of the popular thing known as "Clan of the Cats." Some urban fantasy with a mix of seriousness and humor.

Jennie Breeden: Devil's Panties

Jennie Breeden is the awesome webcomic author/artist of the popular thing known as "The Devil's Panties." We're very afraid of her and hope she doesn't eat us.

Larry Holderfeld: Sinister Bedfellows

Some surreality, interesting pictures and random observations about life. :-)

Leah Riley: Willrad

To quote, it's a "A webcomic-y thing by Leah and Will"

Matt Wood (and hopefully Dave Milloway and Stephanie Freese): The DaDa Detective, Likely Stories

Matt Wood and Dave Milloway and Stephanie Freese are awesome people involved with "The DaDa Detective," "Likely Stories," and other things. One of them games with a former con organizer, I think that's how they got in.

Mike Moon: Catgirl Island

Lots of art and stories by Mike Moon about a fictional island, populated by Catgirls, off the coast of NC.

Niki Lemonade: My Fake Heart

Has a webcomic, as well as adorably cute valentines and kitty hats. (I can't wait to get a kitty hat this year if she has them)

Phillip Wright: Furmentation

Phillip Wright is the awesome webcomic author/artist of the popular thing known as "Furmentation." He's a Guilford grad, and we don't ask him what his thing is with hamsters.

Scaldcrow Games

A Dark Fantasy RPG that looks like a lot of fun. And Doom, can't forget that. They even have a bunch of spiffy generators to come up with fun names and things for the game.

Author, Theresa Bane

For those vampire fans out there, and I know there are, here is the author of ACTUAL FACTUAL: DRACULA, A Compendium of Vampires

Thomas Boatwright: Cemetary Blues

Has a couple of comics in print, or in the process of being printed, that look quite awesome. For more cool pics head over to his deviantart

Ursula Vernon: Digger

"am I a water saphire?" -comic 25. It's very well drawn with good background and a fun and entertaining storline. It also made me laugh. A lot.
