ELECTIONS

We're at that time of the year where we start to decide who is gonna be in charge next year. Last week we had nominations, and you have up until the start of next meeting to either drop out of something, or be added to the running. This week we will have speeches, and the following week is voting. If you're going to drop out do it BEFORE speeches. We will then have initiation rites at the bonfire.

Other Events

One, the camping trip is cancelled becuase almost everyone dropped out. This weekend is Serendipity and you have another chance to see the Flaming Faries in action on Sat April 5th at 8:45 pm. Finals are also coming up which means Study Break! I think we should play Brawl on projector again.

Castle Trip

Like last year, it was awesome. We had a fun time even though it rained and we didn't go outside at all. It was still a castle. This was a Dark Ages game set in 1444 London. Vampire murder mystery. Oh, and the Butler did it! Anyway, it was a chance to see what the LARP next year will be like, and I know I'm looking forward to that now.

Post-con

w00t. The Con was just...fantastically awesome. I really want to thank eveyrone who helped out with it, all of our Guests, and everyone who attended. Offical numbers were 389 attendees, but we know there were some people who didn't sign in. We also raised $1100 for charity! Now that we are post-con, it's time to start planning for the next one (only half kidding). But there are also lots of cool events that Yacthing Club is planning for the rest of the semseter.

Castle Trip and Camping Trip

We are trying to get the Castle Trip on March 29th. It's really a goregeous building and surrounding area, well worth going to. The main event is going to be a LARP, but we will also have a room with Jon Hatch Games for those who want to go the castle but don't want to LARP. This year we are thinking of Dark Ages, a Vampire LARP set in, well, the Dark Ages. It is a time when they pretty much ruled everything. You should come in costume. This is also a test-run, as this may be the main LARP next year.

There will be the Camping Trip on the 6th hopefully, for those of you who want to get away from Serendipity. The campground is gorgeous, I went last year and while it was a small group of people it was fun and relaxing. Yachting Club will be partially sponsoring, but it will also cost about $5/person.

Other Events

Other Stuff. First off, there is Week of Yacht over spring break. For those of you who weren't here fall break, or last year's spring break, we have week of yacht. There are two dinners cooked by us, and we all hang out and watch movies and stuff while eating yummy yummy food. People run one-shots, we play board games, etc. It's a week of fun. If we get a schedule, it will be put online

Movie Trips! We have money budgeted for movie trips. Last semester was going to see Gendel, kinda. This semseter, if theres a geeky movie you think that Yachters should go see, talk to us and we can get it partially sponsored.

Speaking of movies, CAB wants to co-run an event around March: watching Stardust at the movie showing outside on the big screen.

What the Hell?! Con

We're back from break (hope it was good) and find ourselves about a month before the convention. If people could save cardboard boxes of any size, and donate things to the silent auction, that would rock.

We still need: - a few room/event runners - Gophers - people to provide lodging to guest artists. Remember that all staff get t-shirts and snacks/drinks, and gophers get to use walkie talkies.

Happy Life Day!

Hope everyone has a good break. We will be having the next SOF session on Jan 19th, and don't forget to mail in your downtimes! See ya when we get back =D

We still gathering minions I mean helpers for WtHC. We need more gophers right now. All WtHC staff gets a free con t-shirt and if you gopher you get to use a walkie talkie. If interested talk to Lindsay.

T-shirts, HellCon, and Study Break

Well the T-shirt design has been voted on: Chethulu for the win. We'll be working on a final design, and getting a list of who wants a shirt next week.

Study Break is coming up on Dec 7th, which is reading day. We'll have games and food in Upstairs Founders from about noon-6. Quit studying and come have fun!

We are starting to gather minions I mean helpers for WtHC. We've still got rooms and events open for people to run. Or you could run a one-shot game or be a gopher. If interested talk to Lindsay.

Halloween, T-shirts, and HellCon

Hey guys! Don't forget that the Halloween Bash is next weekend (Nov 3rd) at 8 pm in the Community Center. Immediatly after the dance is the yearly showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show at 11:30pm in Bryan Jr.

It's that time of the year again: T-shirt Design. You guys come up with the ideas, we vote, and voila we have t-shirts. The deadline for designs is Nov 8th. We vote on the 15th, and will hopefully have the shirts by Feb, in time for the con. Sumbit your designs at the meeting, or give them to one of the officers.

And speaking of the con, we are starting to find people to run rooms, events, games, and be gophers. For a full list of rooms and events, see the schedule page. Games should be one-shots that can be played in about 3 hours. Gophers are people who have about 2 hour shifts/7 shifts over the weekend and help the con run smoothly. You also get a Con T-shirt. Interested? E-mail us =D

Week of Yacht

I'm gone this weekend, so it won't be updated till Sun night, but here is a partial schedule for Week of Yacht.

If you run something please let me know so I can put it on the schedule so other people can join.

More stuff going on

E-mail Yachting Club or talk to an officer if you want to run something over break, or want more info about what Week of Yacht is. We'll probably have a makeshift schedule up at some point. Reminder that there is no SOF meeting Sat 13th, the next session is Oct 23rd. But they still want downtimes! Oh yeah, and the roster is up.

Stuff Going on

We've got cool demos, you should keep coming to the meetings. The Renfaire trip is this Sat, Oct 6th and its going to be lots of fun. SOF is going great, and we also have a lot of other weekly events such as Jon Hatch Games, DDR, Amtgard, and Anime Night. Oh yeah, and you should play Sultan.

edit: Fall break is also Week of Yacht. It was popular last year, and we decided to do it over both fall and spring break this year. Basically we have tons of games, anime, and other Yachting-realated events all week, plus two group meals made by Yachters.

SOF

The first session is this Sat (the 15th) in upstairs Founders. The game starts at 7pm. BUT should be there at 6:00pm because you should meet with your storyteller again, and meet the people in your group, learn how downtimes are going to work, pick up your character sheet, etc. 6:00 pm, people. Be there. (In costume, you get an extra xp for it)

Changeling

The Changeling demo seemed to have gone really well. Lots of awesome characters and stuff. I can't wait for the first session, which is Sept. 15th but we don't know when or where yet.

SOF Movie Fest

If you are interested in joining SOF, come to the movie marathon this Saturday at 3pm, in the Leak Room (basement of Duke). We will be watching things like Pan's Labyrinth, Legends, etc. If you have a fantasy movie you think would be good to watch, feel free to bring it. There will also be Amtgard going on outside Duke during the same time.

Hey, the Club Fair is Wed (today) from 2:30-4pm outside Founders. You should come help, or hang out and say hi or something. Tell other people to show up, we always want more Yachters!

Um, wow. We had a record number of people at the meeting tonight: 65. And we haven't even had the club fair yet. If this is gonna be a regular occurence, we may need to move to a bigger room =D

FIRST MEETING!

I don't know if we actually have the room reserved yet or not, but the first Yachting meeting is this Thursday. Second floor Bauman, social time is at 10:00pm, meeting starts at 10:30pm. It'll be hard to miss us, just follow the sound of geekdom. Jon Hatch is bringing his board games, and it's mostly just going to be hanging out and playing games and getting to know the new people.

A new site, we has one

HEY! IT'S NEW! ITS SHINY! We've got a new site, and its up. Mostly. There are a few pages that still need to be updated, but I'm working on that. This year, the site will (hopefully? probably?) be kept up-to-date through the year. We will have the meeting newsletters and important points from all the meetings in the Ship's Log. If there's anything that needs to be fixed, just send me an e-mail.
