WQFS operates on the frequency 90.9 with 1,900 watts out of Founders Hall on Guilford College’s campus. WQFS is a student-run station serving student and community DJs, and began daily broadcasts in 1970. Operated by students and community volunteers, WQFS provides Greensboro with refreshing programming including a huge range of musical genres, with a focus on independent music labels. In addition to music, WQFS provides news, lectures and other culturally-rich programming. In August 2012 the station got a major face lift in a newly renovated space. WQFS is consistently ranked by The Princeton Review as one of the best college radio station in the country.
