GUILFORD TRIUMPHS OVER HOLLINS, 8-0

Greensboro, NC (10-8-98) — Freshman forward Amy Evans (New Bern, NC/New Bern) scored a record-tying two goals and an assist in Guilford's 8-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win over Hollins Thursday afternoon. She tied Betsy Noell's school record for goals in a season by a freshman with 13. Evans' first assist of the year upped her team-leading point total to 27 (13g, 1a).

Guilford junior Ingrid Werge tallied a hat trick in the win while senior Alison Schott added a season-high two goals and two assists. The three goals moves Werge into third place on the team with 14 points (6g, 2a) and Schott remains right behind Evans with 17 points (5g, 7a) this season. Sophomore Marlo Biernacki scored her first goal this year and rookie midfielder Lisa Bray tallied her first collegiate points with two assists.

Guilford, in the pouring rain, notched its 12th straight win over Hollins to stay undefeated in the all-time series.  The Quakers eight goals represent a team season high.
