GENERALS STAY PERFECT WITH 4-3 WIN OVER GUILFORD

Lexington, VA — Freshman midfielder Kate Bidwell broke a 2-2 tie and sophomore forward Lindsay Williams added an important insurance goal as Washington and Lee held on for a 4-3 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win over Guilford Saturday afternoon. The win extended the Generals season-opening winning streak to six games.

Senior forward Karin Treese got the Generals on the board with a header just under six minutes into the game. She upped the hosts' advantage to 2-0 with an unassisted tally from 30 yards out less than a minute later.

Guilford scored the first goal against Washington and Lee in 1998 when junior forward Ingrid Werge (Fort Collins, CO/Eleanor Roosevelt (MD)) scored off a pass from sophomore midfielder Jessica Lee (Wadsworth, NY/York Central) in the eighth minute. Freshman Amy Evans knotted the game at 2-2 with her team-leading 11th goal of the year with just over 10 minutes left in the first half.

Guilford senior Alison Schott (Lyons, NY/Lyons) drew the Quakers to within one on a penalty kick at the 76:23 mark.
