WASHINGTON AND LEE BLANKS GUILFORD 10-1 IN WOMEN'S SOCCER
Lexington, VA (10/07/00) — Three Generals scored two goals apiece to lead Washington and Lee to a 10-1 rout of Guilford on Saturday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's soccer action.
Freshman forwards Fontaine Marcoux (Washington, DC/Potomac School) and Susannah Hewlett (Charlottesville, VA/Charlottesville) and sophomore forward Ruth-Hill Yielding (Birmingham, AL/Mountain Brook) each netted two goals for W&L. Yielding also tallied an assist.
Sophomore forward Jenny Thomas (High Point, NC/High Point Central) added a goal and an assist in the victory.
The Generals (6-4, 5-3 ODAC) took a 3-0 halftime lead on Guilford (4-10-1, 3-6 ODAC) in the first half with goals by Marcoux, Yielding and junior midfielder Kate Bidwell (Pensacola, FL/Escambia).
Guilford freshman Megan Barolet-Fogarty (Gainesville, FL/Eastside) broke up the Generals' shutout with her second goal of the season.
