EVANS LIFTS GUILFORD TO WIN OVER RANDOLPH-MACON WOMAN'S COLLEGE

Greensboro, NC (09/26/00) — Junior Amy Evans (New Bern, NC/New Bern) scored two first-half goals and senior goaltender Jenny Akman (Washington, DC/Georgetown Day) made six saves as Guilford snapped a five-match losing streak with a 2-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win over visiting Randolph-Macon Woman's College Tuesday afternoon. The win improves Guilford's record to 13-1-1 all-time against the Wildcats.

Evans put the Quakers on the board with an unassisted tally in the eighth minute. She corralled a loose ball in the middle of the field and weaved her way past the defense, including rookie goaltender Amy Dameron (Fredericksburg, VA/Courtland). Evans hit her second goal from about 16 yards out with a left-footed blast in the 27th minute. She leads Guilford with five goals in 11 matches.

Wildcats' sophomore Lindsay Kinsler (Virginia Beach, VA/Ocean Lakes) halved Guilford's lead with 22:46 remaining off a rebounded shot by senior Erika Slovak (Westfield, MA/Williston Northampton).
