Greensboro, NC (10/16/00) -- Guilford junior Amy Evans (New Bern, NC/New Bern) received the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week Award for the week of October 9, the league announced Monday. The news marks Evans' second weekly honor this season and fourth in her career.

She scored two goals 32 seconds apart in the first half of Guilford's 3-1 triumph over league-rival Sweet Briar October 13. The following day, Evans tallied her team-leading 10th goal in the 80th minute and lifted Guilford past host Eastern Mennonite, 2-1. The Royals entered the contest with a 10-2 record and had their sights set on the third spot in the ODAC standings. Evans' weekend play helped Guilford secure its 10th straight ODAC Tournament bid.

With 10 goals and one assist, Evans ranks among the conference leaders in points (11th) and goals (9th) per game. Her two goals at Sweet Briar gave her 102 career points and made her the first Guilford women's soccer player to reach the 100 career points plateau. She ranks 12th on the ODAC's career goals list with 47 in 13 career contests and has a Guilford-record 104 career points.

The two weekend wins helped Coach Forrest Collier's Quakers (6-10-1, 5-6 ODAC) reach last season's win total. Guilford scrimmages Louisburg Junior College this Thursday (10/19) afternoon in Louisburg. The Quakers await word on the site and opponent of their October 24 ODAC Quarterfinal match.
