SEIFERT LIFTS SEWANEE TO 5-1 WOMEN'S SOCCER WIN OVER GUILFORD

Greensboro, NC (9/04/99) -- Freshman Amanda Seifert (Huntington, NY) scored twice in the second half to lift the University of the South past host Guilford in women's soccer action Saturday, 5-1. Sewanee (2-0) outshot the Quakers (0-2), 42-13, in their second win of the young 1999 season.

In addition to Seifert's tallies, sophomore Jennifer Simoneau (Belleair, FL) scored a goal and an assist in the contest. Freshman Lane Coffey (Boulder, CO) netted the first Tiger goal at the 17-minute mark and Simoneau’s goal followed four minutes later to give Sewanee a 2-0 halftime lead.

After three more Tiger goals, Guilford rookie Kerrie Campbell (Greensboro, NC/Grimsley) avoided the shutout by scoring her first career goal with 17 minutes left in the match. Quakers' junior goalkeeper Jenny Akman (Washington, DC/Georgetown Day) recorded a career-high 24 saves in defeat.

Guilford returns to action Sunday at 1:00 pm against ninth-ranked Emory University.
