EVANS GETS CLOSE TO RECORDS AS QUAKERS DROP FIFTH STRAIGHT MATCH

Greensboro, NC (10/12/99) — Sophomore Amy Evans (New Bern, NC/New Bern) scored Guilford's only two goals of the afternoon in a 6-2 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) loss to Roanoke Tuesday.

The goals put her one tally shy of the school's single-season goal record, which she set last year with 18.  She is three points shy of the single-season points mark of 43, set in 1997 by Alison Schott '99. Evans, who currently ranks second on the ODAC's scoring chart, is also only four points shy of Schott's career points record of 83.

The Maroons quickly mounted a four-goal lead on the Quakers in the first 20 minutes of the match before Evans found the back of the net to put Guilford on the board. Five different Roanoke players scored and senior Alison Dlugos (Point Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) tallied twice to give the second-place Maroons their eighth conference win.

Guilford's current career saves leader, junior goalkeeper Jenny Akman (Washington, DC/Georgetown Day), had 31 saves in defeat.
