EVANS SCORES HAT TRICK TO LEAD QUAKERS TO A 5-1 WIN

Greensboro, NC (9/30/99) — Sophomore Amy Evans (New Bern, NC/New Bern) netted her third hat trick in four games and junior Kerrie Campbell (Greensboro, NC/Grimsley) added two goals and two assists as Guilford downed Averett, 5-1, Thursday afternoon.

Campbell scored the lone goal of the first half to give the Quakers a narrow 1-0 halftime lead. Shortly after Nycole O-Garro (Newport News, VA/Heritage) tied the score with the Cougars' only goal of the afternoon, the Quakers exploded for four straight goals. Campbell connected with Evans in the 51st minute and Evans then returned the favor, finding Campbell open for her second goal of the match. The last two tallies by Evans provided the final 5-1 margin.

Evans' three goals ties Alison Schott's '98 Guilford career goals record of 31 and her seven points (3g, 1a) move her into second place on the career points list with 70 (31g, 8a). The current Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Week, Evans leads her team into two home matches this weekend including Saturday's conference match versus Washington and Lee.
