GUILFORD WOMEN'S LACROSSE SUFFERS 12-6 LOSS TO LONGWOOD
Greensboro, NC (4/14/99) -- The Guilford College women's lacrosse team fell to Division II Longwood College Wednesday afternoon, 12-6. The Lancers are ranked seventh in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) national poll.
Longwood jumped out to an early 7-1 lead in the first 20 minutes. The Quakers answered with a 4-1 run over the next 14 minutes and cut their deficit lead to three four minutes into the second half. That was as close as they would get though, as Longwood's sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Dunn (Baltimore, MD/Northeast) held Guilford to six goals, and recorded 15 saves.
Junior attack Jenn Jankowski (Bethlehem, CT/Westover School) and senior defender Tina Schroeter (Reisterstown, MD/Garrison Forest) picked up three goals apiece in the loss for Guilford.
Guilford play its last game of the regular-season this Saturday, April 17, at home against Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Randolph-Macon. Game time is set for 2:00 pm.
