GUILFORD WOMEN'S LACROSSE TEAM BEATS BRIDGEWATER, 11-4
Greensboro, NC (4/09/99) -- The Guilford College women's lacrosse team beat Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Bridgewater College, 11-4, for the first time since April 6, 1991, Friday afternoon. The win came after seven consecutive losses to Bridgewater and boosts the Quakers' record to 7-5, 4-2 in the ODAC.
Bridgewater's Melissa Miller (Hopewell, VA/Hopewell) scored the first goal of the second half to draw the Eagles (5-6, 3-4 ODAC) to within 5-3. However, the Quakers answered with three straight goals and scored six of the game's last seven tallies to secure their third straight win.
Senior midfielder Luisella Perri (Towaco, NJ/Boonton) led the Quakers with a career-high five points on two goals and three assists. Senior defender Tina Schroeter (Reisterstown, MD/Garrison Forest) added three goals for Guilford. Senior goaltender Lauren Gill (Beverly, MA/Waring School) picked up five saves, giving her a total of 115 on the year.
The Quakers look to win their fourth straight game this Sunday when they host Washington & Lee in a conference match beginning at 1:00 pm.
