GUILFORD PAIR EARNS FIRST TEAM ALL-ODAC LACROSSE HONORS
Greensboro, NC (5/07/99) -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's lacrosse coaches selected Guilford College junior Jenn Jankowski (Bethlehem, CT/Westover School) and senior Tina Schroeter (Reisterstown, MD/Garrison Forest) to the first team All-ODAC squad, the league announced Friday. Jankowski and Schroeter's selection marks the first time two Guilford players earned first team all-league honors since 1992.
Jankowski led Guilford's scorers from her attack position with a career-high 59 points on 48 goals and 11 assists. Her 59 points mark the third-highest single-season point total in school history and her 3.47 points per game ranked sixth among conference leaders. She led the Quakers in scoring 10 times and posted seven games with four or more goals, including a six-goal, one-assist effort in a 14-3 win over Greensboro College March 1. In her two seasons with the program, Jankowski has 102 points (88g, 14a) in 31 games and stands sixth among Guilford's career scoring leaders, fifth in career goals.
A four-year starting defender, Schroeter enjoyed her best offensive season as a senior and led the Quakers in ground balls for the fourth consecutive year. She finished second to Jankowski in scoring with a personal-best 47 points on 43 goals and four assists. The 1998 second team All-ODAC selection posted the 10th-highest single-season point total in school history thanks in part to nine games with three or more games. She hit for a career-best seven points (6g, 1a) in Guilford's season-opening loss to Lynchburg. Schroeter leaves Guilford with the school's career ground balls record (235) and in seventh place among the program's career scoring leaders with 86 points (79g, 7a). She set the Quakers' single-season ground balls record in 1998 with 68 pickups.
The pair helped Coach Ken Glardon's club to an 8-9 overall record, 4-4 in the ODAC, and led the Quakers to their seventh consecutive ODAC quarterfinal berth. Glardon graduates eight seniors this spring, including Schroeter, but returns Jankowski and eight other letter winners in 2000.
